What is this

Every construction project in Latvia goes through the Construction Information System (BIS) and several stages: construction proposal, fulfilment of design conditions, fulfilment of conditions for starting works, construction works and finally commissioning. Each stage has its own colour on the map.

This matters to two people: the one buying a property who wants to know what will be built next door, and the one planning to build who wants to see what is already permitted in the neighbourhood. Multi-storey development permitted on the neighbouring plot can change the whole picture of a place.

How do I find a building permit by address?

Find the address on the map and turn on the construction layer. If a construction case is registered for the object, it will appear in its place with its stage and data.

What do the different colours mean?

Blue — construction works in progress; orange — fulfilling the conditions for starting works; yellow — design stage; green — commissioned; grey — the case is terminated.

How often is the data updated?

The data comes from BIS and is updated regularly. Very fresh proposals may appear with a small delay.
