How to find a cadastre number by address

The cadastre number is a property's unique number in the state Cadastre register — it is required in contracts, the Land Register, construction and at the bank. Enter an address in the search box and you will see both the number and everything else known about the property: boundaries, area, cadastral value and encumbrances. Free of charge.

What is this

Every real-estate property in Latvia has its own cadastre number — an 11-digit code assigned by the State Land Service. It identifies the property as a whole: one property can include land, buildings and premise groups.

A cadastre designation, in turn, identifies a specific object: 11 digits for a land parcel, 14 for a building, 17 for a premise group (an apartment). In everyday speech both are often called a “cadastre number” — our search understands both and finds the property by either of them.

You need the number in practically every official action involving a property: purchase and lease contracts, Land Register procedures, construction applications, bank valuations and communication with the State Land Service or the municipality.

What you will learn

Cadastre number vs. cadastre designation — how they differ

Both codes are made of digits and often look almost identical, so they are easy to mix up. The difference is in what each of them identifies.

CodeWhat it identifiesLength
Cadastre numberThe property as a whole (may include land, buildings, premises)11 digits
Land parcel designationA specific plot of land11 digits
Building designationA specific building14 digits
Premise group designationAn apartment or premises in a building17 digits

The first four digits are always the cadastre territory — for example, Riga property codes start with 0100. You can enter any of these codes in the search box.

How to use

  1. Type an address into the search box — street, house number and place.
  2. Pick the right address from the list — the map flies to the property and opens its card.
  3. The card shows the cadastre number and designation along with the rest of the data.
  4. It also works the other way round: enter the number, if you already know it, and find the property on the map.
  5. You can also simply click any land parcel or building on the map.

Frequently Asked Questions / FAQ

How can I find a cadastre number by address for free?
Enter the address in the search box and open the property card — the cadastre number is shown immediately, together with the boundaries, area and cadastral value. No registration or payment is required.
How does a cadastre number differ from a cadastre designation?
The cadastre number identifies the property as a whole, the designation — a specific object: 11 digits for a land parcel, 14 for a building, 17 for a premise group. In everyday speech both tend to be called a cadastre number; the search finds by either.
How can I find an apartment's cadastre number?
Find the building by address and open the apartment list in the building card — every apartment (premise group) has its own 17-digit cadastre designation.
How do I find a property if I only know the cadastre number?
Enter the number in the search box — the map will take you straight to the land parcel or building and show its address and the rest of the data.
Can I find out who owns a property?
The open cadastre data does not contain the owner's name — the map only shows whether the owner is a natural or a legal person. The owner can be established in the Land Register (zemesgrāmata).
Where will I need the cadastre number?
In purchase and lease contracts, Land Register procedures, construction applications, bank collateral valuations and communication with the State Land Service or the municipality.
